Company History

In 1978, Donald and Lucy Smith moved to Florida from England with their two sons, Simon and Toby. They purchased a small equipment dealership called Les-Ray Bobcat, where their sons went to work with them shortly after. In 1986 the company name was changed to Smith Bros. Contracting Equipment Inc.

Other changes over the years consist of facility, product and staff expansions. Challenges faced by the company included striving through down-cycle years in the construction industry, recovering from post-hurricane damages and mourning the loss of a beloved leader, Donald, in 1993.

However, through these challenges, the company grew under the leadership of Lucy, Simon and Toby Smith.

Today Smith Bros. is comprised of a three-dealership network (one of which will celebrate 10 years in 2008), a multi-million dollar inventory of equipment and parts, and a fourth store scheduled to be opened in the future.
